Joseph A. Hunter was born about 1812 in New Jersey to Joseph and
Mary Hunter. The family moved to Allegheny Co, PA around 1818 and settled in the Etna area. Joseph A. was a blacksmith
and supposedly had a shop near his home. Joseph married Catherine Boyer (1813-1893) around 1832. To their marriage
were born seven children. There is one page devoted to each of these children on this website. Joseph A. Hunter
died of unknown circumstances in 1858, leaving behind his wife and six children.
